Seniors, this is an exciting time of year for you! We know you have a lot going on and much to be excited about. But we also want to make you aware of several technology-related items that need your attention as you prepare to move on from St. Norbert College.
As an alumnus of the college, your SNCemail address will remain active for as long as you use it. If you wish, you may consider setting up a filter to forward your SNC email to your personal account, or perhaps to an account at work. However you do it, we hope you will show your Green Knight pride and continue to use your SNC address (plus, having access to an “edu” email account can have benefits — some software vendors offer discounts to folks with .edu accounts)!
If your email account goes unused for a 6 month period, it will be automatically disabled.
Alertus Emergency Notification
When you registered your computer on the SNC network, you were required to install Alertus. This is the program which pops up a message on your screen in the event of an emergency. We recommend that you uninstall this program so that you no longer receive SNC emergency notifications. Here’s how:
M Drive Data
While a student at SNC, you were given access to store files on the M: drive. You should remove all such files you wish to keep as soon as possible. Once your account converts to alumni status, you will no longer have access to these files. So don’t wait, you can do this now. You may want to transfer your files to a flash drive, or to your computer. Or better yet, we recommend using a reliable cloud storage solution like Google Drive or Dropbox.
Printing on Campus
Alumni accounts do not have print capability. If alumni would like to print, the Mulva Library can setup a temporary account to print only in the library or the Digital Print Center provides full service printing.
If you installed antivirus softwarecprovided by the college, like Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows Defender, you can keep it. Our license allows you to continue to use the product indefinitely.
